The International Human Rights Commission IHRC, is supporting Sri Lanka’s senior citizens and Dhamma school children with a specialized eye health clinic.
In conjunction with the voluntary assistance programs of the Special Monitoring Mission of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC SMM), on October 29, 2023, the officials of the Special Monitoring Mission in Sri Lanka supported Sri Lankan senior citizens and Dhamma school children with an eye clinic and a special program of providing spectacles.
According to Dr. Chrishantha Dissanayake, Sri Lanka’s special coordinator of the International Human Rights Commission, Hemantha Vitharana, Dhammika Sisira Kumara, and Nisansala Wijekoon participated in this event.
Also, representing the Kuveni Foundation, all the officers including its president and secretary participated.
Also, Dr. Chrishantha Dissanayake asked the participants of the clinic that it should be the duty of man to protect senior citizens without leaving them alone.
This eye clinic and spectacles distribution program was held at Makandura Sarankararama Purana Viharaya in Kurunegala District, North West Province of Sri Lanka, and optician resources were provided by Navaloka Optical Institute. Children and adults from many villages around Makandura were involved in this.
The Kuveni Foundation, which works for women’s rights, provided full support by organizing this program and the head of Makandura Sarankararama Puran Viharaya, Reverend Polgampola Piyananda Thero, gave full blessings.
