The International Human Rights Commission -IHRC proudly emphasises the role of local communities in building a brighter future that inspires the entire world.
During a special event in Kathmandu, Dipendra Silwal, the IHRC Commissioner in Nepal, expressed his gratitude in an official statement that fully embodies the spirit of cooperation and solidarity:

“As the Commissioner of the International Human Rights Commission IHRC, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Thamel Society for their active efforts in supporting the economic development of local communities and their unwavering commitment to promoting peace worldwide.
We deeply appreciate the contributions of the people of Nepal, whose spirit of unity and resilience inspires us all. To our incredible volunteers in Nepal and the entire Nepalese community: thank you for your steadfast dedication and support.

The event was attended by distinguished IHRC leaders whose presence added prestige and highlighted the importance of this initiative. Prof. h.c. Rafal Marcin Wasik IHRC Secretary General and widely recognised as the “Peacemaker”, and Pawel Nowacki Ambassador At Large and Intergovernmental Specialist for Interagency Affairs, demonstrated the significance of supporting local communities in Nepal and fostering international dialogue for peace.
During their visit to the Thamel district, the IHRC leaders observed a remarkable gesture of solidarity by the local community – shops painted in the colours of the Ukrainian flag. This powerful symbol not only reflects Nepal’s support for global peace but also serves as a poignant reminder of the need for cooperation and unity during times of crisis.
“The blue and yellow colours visible on the streets of Kathmandu are a testament to how local actions can have global significance. It is a beautiful expression of solidarity with Ukraine and a message that together we can build a better world.” said Prof. h.c. Rafal Marcin Wasik.
