The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) in Nigeria urges citizens to maintain hope, unity, and patriotism as essential values to overcome the country’s significant economic challenges. This call also reflects support for President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to rebuild the nation in the face of economic adversity.

On the occasion of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah, IHRC’s Ambassador-at-Large and Head of Diplomatic Mission in Nigeria, issued an official statement on Monday in Abuja.

In his remarks, he highlighted that Nigeria is undergoing an economic revival, evidenced by the government’s decisive actions in implementing policies and initiatives aimed at revitalising the economy, boosting employment, and improving the standard of living for all citizens.

“Today we celebrate a significant occasion—the 64th anniversary of our beloved nation’s independence. This day not only reminds us of our past struggles and achievements but also serves as a beacon of hope for our future,” Ambassador Hezekiah stated.

He further emphasised that despite numerous challenges, Nigeria remains a strong and united country, resilient in its diversity, and determined to build a prosperous and sustainable future.

The Ambassador stressed that the nation is gradually recovering and progressing towards realising its full national potential. He highlighted the power of hope, saying, “Hope is our steadfast light in difficult times. Let us hold firmly to that hope.”

In conclusion, he called on President Tinubu to continue his patriotic efforts towards Nigeria’s revitalisation with unwavering resolve. He also encouraged Nigerians to reaffirm their commitment to national unity, peace, and progress.
