20 June 2025 | Park Hotel Diament, Zabrze, Poland

Ronaldinho Gaúcho, the undisputed legend of world football, was officially honoured with the title of Peace Ambassador of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) during a special gala event in Zabrze. The ceremony, attended by the highest authorities of IHRC – Prof. h.c. Rafał Marcin Wasik, IHRC Secretary-General, Peacemaker and Ambassador at Large Mr. Sławomir Rogowski – became a symbol of global unity, humanitarian values, and genuine commitment to peace.

As an IHRC Ambassador, Ronaldinho is today a true inspiration for millions of people around the world – not only through his sporting achievements, but above all through his active stance for dialogue, solidarity, and the protection of human rights. His energy, charisma, and authority make him an ambassador of the very values that IHRC promotes across all continents.

During the same ceremony, other distinguished individuals were also honoured and decorated with IHRC orders for their outstanding contributions and cooperation:

Ronaldinho Gaúcho

Marcio Granada – Ronaldinho’s manager

Jarosław Kwella

Mirosław Barszowski

This recognition highlights their exceptional commitment, support, and promotion of the IHRC’s humanitarian and peace-building mission.

To the entire IHRC team and all those who support the organisation’s mission, Ronaldinho Gaúcho shared these inspiring words:

“Stand for justice, act with heart, and serve with passion – this is how history remembers the brave.”
— Ronaldinho Gaúcho
Chorzów, 20 June 2025

This dedication, personally signed by Ronaldinho, is a special motivator for every member of IHRC and for everyone who believes in the power of goodness, courage, and human rights.

Ronaldinho Gaúcho’s presence as IHRC Peace Ambassador is not only a great honour for the organisation, but also a strong message to the international community that the values of justice, empathy, and human dignity can inspire new generations.

The International Human Rights Commission extends its special thanks to Mr. Sławomir Rogowski, IHRC Ambassador at Large, whose outstanding commitment, organisation, and support were instrumental in making this distinguished event possible.

On Friday, June 28, 2024, the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Special Monitoring Mission in Ogun State, Nigeria, participated in the global campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking through an educational event. This initiative aligns with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, marked annually on June 26.

The event, aimed at raising awareness and combating these pressing issues, was chaired by Kazeem Lukman, Zonal Volunteer Coordinator for Ogun State. He was joined by Engineer Oke Ganiyu, Comrade Ishola Taiwo, and Dr. Abatan Adio. The session focused on the detrimental effects of drug abuse and illicit trafficking, particularly among children and youth.

Volunteer Lukman opened the session by expressing his gratitude and providing an overview of the global challenge posed by drug abuse and illicit trafficking. He emphasized the urgent need for significant interventions to address these problems effectively. “Drug abuse and illicit trafficking are global threats that require a giant’s intervention,” he stated.

In his address, Volunteer Lukman called on experts to reach out to more people daily to curb the meritocratic attitudes of violators. He urged schools, communities, churches, and mosques to actively participate in awareness campaigns to prevent these activities. He underscored the importance of these campaigns, particularly on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Volunteer Lukman also highlighted the readiness of the Special Monitoring Mission in Ogun State to support this crucial mission. He stressed the role of constant mentoring, knowledge sharing, youth engagement, empowerment, and the creation of reporting lines and departments to curb drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Engineer Oke Ganiyu took the stage to further educate the attendees on the dangers of drug abuse and illicit trafficking, particularly for students. He praised the IHRC’s movement, noting its significant role in preventing these issues. The principal of Optimum Model College, where the event was held, commended the IHRC for their efforts in tackling the problem.

In his concluding remarks, Volunteer Lukman thanked all the volunteers present and those who supported the initiative financially. “God bless all who contribute to this noble cause,” he said.

The IHRC Ogun State’s active participation in this campaign underscores its commitment to fighting drug abuse and illicit trafficking through education and community involvement.
