Society and Environment: The Preservation and Development of Wildlife and Flora, Combating Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Drought in Côte d’Ivoire and, in general, in West Africa within the ECOWAS region.

Joint French Mission in Paris – Soundélé Konan Foundation and the National Coordination for the Country Programme of the International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation for the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, linked to ECOWAS countries, on the sidelines of the “International Conference on Agriculture” (SIA).

The Soundélé Konan Foundation, represented by its president, Adrienne Soundélé, participated in an international conference on agriculture and water on 5 March in Paris. This event, initiated by the Carrefour des Acteurs Sociaux et du Partenariat Eurafricain, took place in the prestigious setting of the French Academy of Agriculture, highlighting the importance of the topics discussed.

The conference brought together experts, policymakers, and representatives of non-governmental organisations to discuss the challenges posed by global warming, particularly its impacts on agriculture and water resource management. The participation of the Soundélé Konan Foundation in this event demonstrates its ongoing commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation.

At the conclusion of the discussions, Laurent Dornon, head of the Agriculture Department at the Carrefour des Acteurs Sociaux et du Partenariat Eurafricain, expressed his gratitude to Ms Soundélé for the presence and contribution of the Foundation at the conference.

Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of continuing collaborations between their organisations to better address environmental challenges. “We are committed to raising awareness of climate change issues, the importance of agriculture, and respect for nature, as well as conveying key messages to better prepare for the future,” Mr Dornon stated in his official correspondence.

The conference provided an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas on innovative solutions for climate-resilient agriculture and more sustainable water resource management. The discussions also highlighted the necessity of strengthened cooperation between African and European countries to tackle these shared challenges.

The Soundélé Konan Foundation, known for its commitment to forest protection projects in Africa, continues to play a key role in promoting environmentally friendly agricultural practices and raising awareness about the impacts of climate change. Its participation in this conference in France marks a significant step in its international efforts and strengthens its position as a major player in the field of sustainable development.

On 12 March 2025, a charity event titled “Send a Doughnut to Africa” took place. The event was organised by volunteers from the International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation / Interpol Center USA, who have been actively operating in Wałcz, Poland for years, in collaboration with a local school and employees of the Wałcz, Poland County Office.

The initiative aimed to raise funds to provide food and medical assistance to children in the Central African Republic and to finance the construction of a well. The collected funds will be transferred to missionaries from the Capuchin Order, who have been supporting needy communities in Africa for many years.

Students, teachers, and employees of the County Office actively participated in the collection, showing remarkable generosity and empathy. Thanks to the joint effort, a significant sum was raised, which will substantially improve the quality of life for children and local residents in the region.

On behalf of the organisers and IHRC Poland volunteers, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all donors for their kindness and solidarity.

The post Charity Event “Send a Doughnut to Africa” a Great Success first appeared on ihrc.news.

A special prayer meeting took place in India’s capital city, Delhi, organised by Bishop Dr. H.E. Samsher Khan, IHRC Peace Ambassador and IHRC Press Journalist, in collaboration with Archbishop Dr. Rakesh Kumar. The event gathered a significant number of participants under the auspices of the International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation.

During this notable meeting, Bishop Dr. Samsher Khan highlighted human rights, emphasising the value of life in the light of the words of the Lord and underscoring the importance of awareness regarding the rights entitled to every individual. The gathering aimed not only at spiritual reinforcement but also at educating attendees about fundamental human rights and human dignity.

A ceremonial awarding of IHRC certificates was held, honouring distinguished participants including Archbishop Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Bishop Gitesh Prasad, Preeti Velium, and Meher Chand for their contributions and commitment to protecting human rights.

The event took place within the context of the challenging situation faced by the Christian community in India, which currently numbers around 28 million people (approximately 2.3% of the national population). Christians in India frequently face various forms of religious intolerance and even persecution, including physical assaults, forced conversions, destruction of property, and social exclusion. Recent incidents, particularly in states like Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh, have raised significant concerns regarding the safety and rights of minority communities.

International organisations such as Amnesty International have repeatedly expressed their concerns regarding the escalating violence and discrimination against Christians in India, urging the Indian authorities to take immediate action to protect the religious freedoms and rights of minorities.

Despite these challenges, local Christian communities continue to significantly contribute to Indian society through education, healthcare, and charitable initiatives. Numerous schools, hospitals, and social welfare institutions run by Christian organisations actively support disadvantaged groups, thereby promoting social harmony and development.

Looking forward, International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation aims to intensify efforts through awareness campaigns, international collaborations, and targeted initiatives aimed at safeguarding religious freedom and human rights in India. These actions are designed to foster understanding, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence amongst India’s diverse religious groups.

Both bishops and archbishops play crucial roles in their pastoral mission as spiritual guides and defenders of human rights and dignity. Through their actions and dedicated service, IHRC religious leaders actively participate in defending human rights, promoting interreligious dialogue, and advocating for peaceful coexistence among communities.

Bishop Dr. H.E. Samsher Khan expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation, particularly highlighting the significant support provided by Prof. h.c. Rafal Marcin Wasik, IHRC Secretary General – World Chairman.

The event concluded with a heartfelt call for continued commitment towards peace and human rights, emphasising the importance of community unity in facing contemporary challenges.

As the Ambassador for Christian Affairs in the Middle East, my greatest wish is for peace to prevail in our beloved region. I dream of a future where Christians from all countries—Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and beyond—can freely visit the Holy City of Jerusalem, a place sacred to our faith, without restrictions or fear. Every Christian should have the right to walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, to pray at the holy sites, and to experience the spiritual embrace of the land that gave birth to our faith.

But my vision goes beyond the borders of Christianity. Peace is not just a Christian prayer—it is a universal need, a divine gift that must extend to all nations, to all people. True peace is built on the foundations of love, respect, and mutual understanding, where people of all faiths—Christians, Muslims, Jews—can live together in harmony, free from war and division. It is my deepest hope that we can bridge the gaps between communities, uniting all Christians of the Middle East without fear, and fostering a spirit of brotherhood with people of all religions.

As we approach the holy month of Ramadan, I extend my warmest blessings to all my Muslim brothers and sisters. May this sacred time be filled with peace, joy, and spiritual renewal, not just for them but for all nations. Let this season remind us that we are all children of God, called to love one another beyond our differences.

At the same time, Christians around the world are preparing for Easter, a time of deep spiritual reflection. As we observe the 40-day fast of Lent, we are reminded of the words of Christ:

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)

Just as Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness, resisting temptation and renewing His spirit, so too do we embrace fasting, prayer, and repentance, seeking to renew our souls and strengthen our faith.

As the founder of Atā’ Association in the Holy Land, I am committed to strengthening Christian presence and unity in the Middle East. Our association plays a vital role in supporting Christian communities, fostering dialogue, and promoting peace. Currently, we are preparing a special Easter hymn evening in the city of Nazareth, the town of the Annunciation, at the Basilica of the Annunciation. This event will be dedicated to Good Friday of the Virgin Mary, honoring the suffering of the Mother of Christ and the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus for humanity.

This evening of hymns is not just a celebration; it is a message of hope—a symbol of what is possible when we come together in faith and love. Through music and prayer, we seek to uplift souls, strengthen the bonds of Christian unity, and remind the world that faith conquers fear and love triumphs over division.

I dream of the day when Christian pilgrims from every corner of the Middle East will be able to visit Nazareth and all the holy sites without fear of war or conflict. A day when our region will no longer be defined by division but by unity, when faith can be practiced freely, and when people can live without the shadow of violence.

Peace is a gift from our Lord Jesus Christ. It is the light that guides us, the force that unites us, and the hope that sustains us. Let us pray and work together so that this divine gift may flourish in our hearts and in our lands. Let us stand as one, committed to building bridges, embracing one another in love, and ensuring that the Middle East—a land blessed by God—becomes a beacon of peace for all humanity.

May peace and love reign over all nations.

Article prepared by:
George ARAR
IHRC Ambassador for Christian Affairs in the Middle East

March 1st marks Zero Discrimination Day, a globally recognized observance advocating for equality and the fundamental right of every individual to live a life free from discrimination. This day serves as a reminder that inclusion, dignity, and respect must be at the core of our societies, reinforcing the global commitment to justice and equal opportunities for all.

The theme for this year’s commemoration, “We Stand Together” underscores the necessity of unity and collective action in combating all forms of discrimination. It calls upon governments, civil society, and individuals to actively participate in dismantling barriers that hinder social and economic progress for marginalized communities.

A Call for Global Solidarity

In an official statement, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah, Ambassador-at-Large and Head of the Diplomatic Mission of the International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation in Nigeria, emphasized that this year’s theme highlights the significance of collaborative efforts in addressing discrimination.

“In a world where prejudice and bias still persist, Zero Discrimination Day serves as a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to build inclusive societies where everyone is treated with dignity and respect” he stated.

Ambassador Dr. Hezekiah further noted that despite the existence of international and national legal frameworks designed to promote equality, discriminatory practices continue to affect numerous aspects of life, including employment, education, healthcare, and social services. He stressed that true progress requires not only legal provisions but also societal change, led by informed advocacy and active participation from all stakeholders.

The Role of IHRC in Combating Discrimination

As a global human rights body, the International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard and advance human rights worldwide. Through its diplomatic missions, including its operations in Nigeria, IHRC actively collaborates with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and international partners to address systemic discrimination and promote policies that foster equality.

Ambassador Dr. Hezekiah reaffirmed IHRC’s commitment to standing against all forms of discrimination, highlighting the Commission’s continuous engagement in educational programs, policy advocacy, and community outreach initiatives designed to empower marginalized groups.

Beyond Legal Protections: The Need for Cultural and Social Change

Legal instruments, while essential, are not sufficient on their own to eradicate discrimination. A change in societal attitudes is equally vital to ensure that laws are implemented effectively and that individuals understand the impact of discrimination on communities and nations. Education, awareness campaigns, and active civil engagement are key drivers in fostering a culture of respect and equality.

“On this important day, let us all take a stand against discrimination; together, we can build a brighter, more equitable future for all” Ambassador Dr. Hezekiah concluded.

As the world observes Zero Discrimination Day 2025, it is crucial to remember that true change requires constant vigilance and collective determination. By standing together, we can ensure that the principles of equality, justice, and human dignity prevail in every corner of the world.

On February 21, International Mother Language Day is observed, commemorating the struggle for the protection of linguistic and cultural diversity. In Bangladesh, this day holds particular significance as it marks the historic events of 1952, when people fought for the recognition of Bengali as the state language.

On this occasion, at 11:00 AM, representatives of the International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation in Bangladesh laid floral tributes at the Central Shaheed Minar in Chittagong, a monument dedicated to the language martyrs. The ceremony was attended by Lion Mohammed Elias Sirazi, Peace Ambassador and National Coordinator, Mohammed Mazba Uddin, Zonal Coordinator & Director Admin, Amir Hossain Khan, Lion Asif Ghani Chowdhury, Moinuddin Ahmed, Sharmin Sarker, Sumit Barua, Dr. Mohammed Sajjad Hossain, IHRC Corporation Press Journalist, and other representatives of IHRC Corporation.

In his speech, Peace Ambassador Lion Mohammed Elias Sirazi emphasized that the 1952 struggle was the primary inspiration for the great Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. He also expressed gratitude to the United Nations for recognizing the significance of language in shaping national identity.

Zonal Coordinator, Mohammed Mazba Uddin, added:
“My mother tongue is my pride. Every mother tongue is connected to the human soul.”
He also highlighted the necessity of protecting the dignity of all languages worldwide.

Amir Hossain Khan underscored the importance of celebrating this day, pointing out that over 115 million people speak the Bengali language. He stressed the need for preserving, developing, and researching mother languages.

Lion Asif Ghani Chowdhury noted that language knowledge is essential for leading the world, but the mother tongue serves as a fundamental force in acquiring knowledge. Therefore, he placed great emphasis on practicing and promoting the mother language.

International Mother Language Day was established by UNESCO on November 17, 1999, and has been observed worldwide since 2000. The 25th anniversary of this observance in 2025 provides an opportunity to reflect on the achievements in linguistic diversity protection and renew commitments to the promotion of mother languages.

The Chittagong celebrations were part of a global observance aimed at emphasizing the importance of linguistic and cultural diversity in building more peaceful and sustainable societies.

Since mid-January of this year, the International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation / Interpol Center USA has been conducting an intensive investigation into the shocking and inhumane conditions in which Ukrainian refugees are being held in Warsaw. The case involves approximately 150 individuals—primarily elderly, disabled, and war-wounded—who fled to Poland seeking refuge and safety from the ongoing conflict. However, the reality they faced is starkly different.

According to findings by the commissioners of the International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation / Interpol Center USA, the refugees are confined in closed facilities under conditions that grossly violate basic humanitarian standards. They lack access to running water, proper sanitation, and freedom of movement. Each individual is forced to pay between 100 and 150 euros monthly to remain in these appalling conditions. Despite holding identification documents, they are forbidden from leaving the premises, effectively rendering them prisoners in a slum-like environment.

Sanitary conditions are alarming, with infectious diseases, including lice infestations, spreading rapidly among detainees. Medical care is severely restricted—in January 2025, one person tragically died due to the absence of medical assistance.

The facility is guarded by armed criminal groups consisting of Chechens, Ingush, and cooperating Georgians. The guards, armed with clubs and machetes, maintain a climate of terror and intimidation among the captives. The operation is reportedly led by a Chechen individual named Adam. According to eyewitnesses, this criminal group is not limited to holding refugees captive but also intimidates local businesses, regularly extorting money from owners.

The premises lack heating, posing a severe risk to the health and lives of elderly and vulnerable individuals, especially during winter months. Immediate intervention by health authorities and the implementation of quarantine measures is urgently required due to the epidemiological risks.

The International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation / Interpol Center USA continues its intensive investigative efforts to gather necessary evidence and information, which will be handed over to Polish law enforcement authorities. The situation remains dynamic, and the public expects decisive action from authorities and the immediate end to this brutal criminal enterprise.
