IHRC and Sri Hela Foundation Unite for Environmental Action

The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC), in partnership with the Sri Hela Cultural Cooperation Foundation, has officially launched a large-scale tree planting initiative in Sri Lanka. The project, which commenced on 11 July 2025 in Diyahondawewa village, Kuruwita Divisional Secretariat, Ratnapura District, aims to plant 100,000 saplings as a concrete step toward combating climate change and fostering environmental stewardship. The initiative aligns with the European Climate Agreement’s target of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

Leadership and Community Engagement

The project operates under the direct supervision of Dr. Chrishantha Dissanayake, Commissioner for Sri Lanka at the International Human Rights Commission. Titled “Let’s Plant a Sapling to Give the Future Generation a Breath,” the programme will gradually expand to other regions of Sri Lanka.
Mr. Anura Witarana, IHRC Zonal Coordinator, has been appointed Chairman of the project and will lead its day-to-day execution and community mobilisation.

Broad Participation and Recognition

The launch event was attended by key figures, including Dr. Dissanayake (also Founder/Chairman/Director-General of the Sri Hela Cultural Foundation), the Divisional Secretary of Kuruwita, the Officer-in-Charge of Kuruwita Police, regional and zonal IHRC coordinators, volunteers, and representatives of Diyahondawewa village – including the Grama Niladhari, a development officer, farmer’s society officials, and local villagers.
Notable participants included: Mr. S. Prabakar, Mr. Anura Vitharana, Mr. Udara Rathnayake, Mr. Vihaga Deshapriya, Mrs. Nisansala Wijekoon, Mrs. Dilki Saumya, Mr. Sarath Kumara, and others.

As a mark of appreciation, all participants received official certificates signed by Prof. Rafael Wasik, Secretary of the International Human Rights Commission, and Dr. Chrishantha Dissanayake.

A Commitment to Future Generations

This tree planting initiative reflects IHRC’s belief that environmental protection is a fundamental human right and a pillar of global peace and sustainable development. By engaging communities, authorities, and civil society, IHRC and the Sri Hela Cultural Foundation aim to leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, India — 5 June 2025

In a heartwarming act of solidarity and compassion, the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) – Uttarakhand State Chapter carried out a blanket distribution initiative for vulnerable communities in the mountainous region of Tehri Garhwal, where temperatures have recently dropped to critically low levels.

This humanitarian activity, executed under the official banner of the IHRC, was spearheaded by Volunteer Moti and supported by local team members. The aim was clear: to provide immediate relief to those in need during the unforgiving winter season in the hills of Northern India.

We are pleased to announce that as part of the ongoing development of our international operations and the consolidation of our organizational identity, the International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation has officially rebranded its main logo.

As of today, the new primary emblem of IHRC is the logo bearing the inscription “IHRC ALLIANCE” – symbolising our transnational and intergovernmental cooperation in the protection of human rights, peacebuilding, and global justice.

The New Logo:

It features a classic globe encircled by a laurel wreath, consistent with international standards for peace-oriented organisations, with the inscription IHRC ALLIANCE clearly emphasizing our community of nations, structures, and strategic partners.

What is IHRC ALLIANCE?

IHRC Alliance is an intergovernmental coalition of partner organisations working together to protect human rights, deliver humanitarian aid, foster social development, and promote peace on the international stage.

This alliance brings together governmental, non-governmental, diplomatic and volunteer structures, forming an integrated platform for global action.

IHRC Alliance represents a new chapter in the history of our organisation – a phase in which operational, diplomatic, and humanitarian efforts are carried out in the spirit of unity, solidarity, and the mission of “Peacemaker.”

Previous Logos:

All previous versions of the logo remain active and permissible for use, especially in the context of regional branches, historical documents, press credentials, and previously issued materials. The change solely applies to the main, official identity of IHRC Corporation.

Purpose of the Rebranding

• Strengthen IHRC’s visual coherence on the international stage,
• Highlight our affiliation with the global IHRC Alliance,
• Enhance recognisability in intergovernmental and diplomatic communications,
• Reflect the dynamic evolution of our mission.

• Use the “IHRC ALLIANCE” main logo in all new promotional materials, official documents, and institutional communications.
• Previous logos may continue to be used for regional, historical, or archival purposes.
