<p><strong>Promoting Human Rights, Peace, and Community Development in Rumuodunwere, Elelenwo</strong></p>



<p><strong>Rumuodunwere Community, Elelenwo, Rivers State – June 21, 2025</strong><br>The International Human Rights Commission (<strong>IHRC</strong>) Special Monitoring Mission (<strong>SMM</strong>), Rivers State Chapter, conducted a highly impactful June edition of its community service outreach in the Rumuodunwere Community, Elelenwo, within the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. This outreach forms part of the month-long IHRC Community Service Initiative, dedicated to fostering the values of <strong>human rights, peace, and sustainable community development</strong>.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Strong Community Participation and Leadership</strong></h2>



<p>The event commenced at <strong>9:00 AM</strong> and was marked by a strong turnout of IHRC members, volunteers, and local residents. Notable participants included <strong>Comrade Paul Matthew</strong>, <strong>Comrade Daniel</strong>, and several key officials from the Commission. The proceedings were led by <strong>Comrade Elijah Vitus Echendu</strong>, State Chapter Leader, whose vision and dedication continue to drive IHRC SMM’s activities. The unwavering support of the IHRC Diplomatic Mission, under the leadership of <strong>H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah</strong>, was also prominently acknowledged.</p>

<p>The outreach began with an address by <strong>Comrade Daniel Karikpo</strong>, representing State Coordinator <strong>Comrade Sundrix Ogor</strong>. He welcomed attendees and reaffirmed IHRC SMM’s central mission: to promote peace, defend human rights, and empower communities.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Advocacy for the Vulnerable</strong></h3>



<p><strong>Comrade Paul Matthew</strong> further elaborated on the organization’s unwavering commitment to protecting the vulnerable and advocating for the rights and dignity of every individual.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Powerful Message from the State Coordinator</strong></h3>



<p>The day’s highlight was the powerful speech delivered by <strong>Comrade Sundrix Ogor</strong>, State Coordinator. His remarks served as a poignant reminder that <strong>ignorance is no excuse for human rights violations</strong>, stressing that all perpetrators—regardless of their social status or age—will be held accountable. He also emphasized that the aid and materials distributed were not given from a place of abundance, but from a genuine desire to support those in need, reflecting IHRC’s dedication to humanitarian values.</p>

<p>This event stood as a practical manifestation of IHRC’s core values: <strong>Service, Integrity, and Commitment</strong>. Under the effective leadership of <strong>Comrade Elijah Vitus Echendu</strong>, volunteers were inspired and mobilized, ensuring the outreach’s success and positive reception within the local community.</p>



<p>The success of the initiative was further reinforced by the steadfast support of the IHRC Diplomatic Mission, led by <strong>H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah</strong>. His exemplary leadership continues to advance the IHRC’s mission throughout Rivers State and across Nigeria, demonstrating that collective efforts in defence of human rights can lead to lasting, positive change.</p>



<p>The <strong>Rumuodunwere Community</strong> expressed profound gratitude for the assistance received, highlighting the tangible benefits of IHRC’s outreach programmes in fostering a culture of respect, justice, and solidarity.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong><mark style="background-color:rgba(0,0,0,0);color:#00d084" class="has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color">IHRC in Angola concludes with the first series of the most recent project &#8220;Dialogue in the Community&#8221;.</mark></strong></p>



<p>On the 4th of March, the community of the urban district of Cazenga, specifically the &#8220;Quinta da Graça&#8221; school complex, received the commission with open hands, and on the 18th of March 2023, witnessed the epilogue of this journey. It is worth mentioning that the &#8220;Community Dialogue&#8221; is a project that aims to dialogue with the communities, and diagnose the main problems, to better remedy them.</p>



<p>The closing of the event was attended by more than 60 teenagers and adults, as well as teachers and directors of the aforementioned institution. In a friendly and familiarizing environment, psychologist Euclênia Justo, in response to the commission&#8217;s invitation, addressed the following:</p>
