Krakow, April 7, 2025 – Each day is a fight for life. Every hour matters. Mikolaj Jerzak, just two years old, is suffering from one of the most severe and progressive genetic diseases – Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). The diagnosis came as a crushing blow to his family, forcing his parents into a desperate race against time — a fight for hope, for strength, and above all, for the life of their beloved son.

DMD – A Silent and Merciless Sentence

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a cruel disease. It gradually, and systematically, takes away a child’s ability to walk, speak, swallow, and ultimately breathe. Without effective treatment, the disease leads to a slow and painful death. Currently, the only hope for Mikolaj is access to an innovative gene therapy, available exclusively in the United States. Unfortunately, the cost of treatment exceeds 17 million PLN (approx. 4 million USD).

His parents – Natalia and Adrian – live each day in fear and heartbreak. “Our hearts are breaking as we begin to see the disease taking its toll on Mikolaj… This fundraiser is our only hope. Without it, we have no chance of saving his life,” they say.

Solidarity Beyond Borders – Support from Public Figures and Humanitarians

In response to the family’s urgent appeal, prominent public figures and human rights advocates have joined the campaign.

On April 7, 2025, a special meeting was held in Krakow, attended by:

• Prof. h.c. Rafal Marcin Wasik – Secretary General and World Chairman of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC Corporation / Interpol Center USA),
• M.Sc. Ewelina Barbara Pawlowska – Ambassador at Large, Vice Secretary General and Head of the Department of Internal Affairs at IHRC,
• Piotr Marzec “Liroy” – IHRC Peace Ambassador,
• Kamil Zalewski – President of Juventus Academy Foundation Rzeszow.

Ambassador Liroy, known for his long-standing commitment to public service, signed jerseys for charity auctions and pledged his further support for the fundraising campaign.

“We cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of a child. Every minute counts for Mikolaj. Let’s show that together, we can do anything” Liroy stated during the event.

A Nationwide Call for Support

The fundraising campaign for Mikolaj is a race against time. The disease is progressing, and the child is losing vital functions. Gene therapy — currently only commercially available in the U.S. — is the only hope to stop this terminal illness. This is no longer just a dream — it is a matter of life and death.

Kielce recently hosted a significant sports and charity event featuring the legendary Polish boxer, Andrzej Gołota, as an honoured guest. The boxing champion attended the Polish Boxing League match between Rushh Kielce and Golden Team Nowy Sącz, held at the Sports and Entertainment Hall on Żytnia Street.

Prof. h.c. Rafał Marcin Wasik, Secretary General – World Chairman of the International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation / Interpol Center USA, also attended the event. During the match, Professor Wasik met with Grzegorz Nowaczek, President of the Polish Boxing Association, to discuss potential collaborations aimed at promoting sport and humanitarian activities.

Andrzej Gołota’s visit coincided with his participation in the charitable initiative “TEAM 300”, organised by Juventus Academy Foundation Rzeszów, led by its President, Kamil Zalewski. This initiative supports children suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). During the event, Gołota signed Juventus Academy Rzeszów football shirts and boxing gloves, which will be auctioned to raise funds for affected children. The boxer expressed his wholehearted support, emphasising his deep concern and best wishes for the children’s well-being.

IHRC Corporation actively endorses such humanitarian initiatives, recognising sport as a powerful vehicle for social integration and promotion of human rights values.

The proceeds from the auction will be donated to the charges of Sister Malgorzata Chmielewska, known for her commitment to helping those most in need.

I had the honour of participating in the event together with the IHRC Director of Diplomatic Protocol. Among the numerous items auctioned, one that attracted attention was a unique ball with the autographs of the Polish National Team, which we managed to auction together. After the end of the auction, the ball was donated to the International Human Rights Commission – IHRC, where it will become a symbol of cooperation and support for the organisation’s activities to protect human rights.

The photo captures the moment when this unique gift was handed over by the entrepreneur Mariusz Jablonski and Grzegorz Brzostowicz. It is thanks to such people, who are devotedly involved in charitable activities, that it is possible to help those who need it most.

It is worth noting that the initiative was organised by exceptional people: Magda, Barbara, Wioletta, Grzegorz, Tom, Bogdan, Franco, Peter and Adam. Their commitment and open hearts created an atmosphere that combined the pleasure of tasting young wine with real support for those in need.

Thank you to all the donors for their participation and generosity. Every gesture matters, and this event proved once again the power of doing good together.

During the concert, Ersin Faikzade mesmerised the audience with his unique interpretation and powerful voice, delivering messages of kindness, friendship, and humanity. The artist’s performance was met with tremendous enthusiasm, and the audience honoured him with prolonged standing ovations.

In recognition of this remarkable gesture, the Mayor of Seferihisar and the President of the Balçova Otobulcüler Tradesmen and Craftsmen Chamber expressed their gratitude to Ersin Faikzade by presenting him with a commemorative plaque and flowers. The Mayor of Seferihisar emphasised his pride in hosting such a distinguished artist, stating: “We are honoured to welcome Ersin Faikzade, Turkey’s most exceptional artist, known for his humanity, compassion, and love for his country and nation. We hope that more artists like Mr. Ersin will serve as role models for society.”

What’s more, Prof. h.c. Rafal Marcin WASIK Secretary General Chairperson IHRC Group Peacemaker, also conveyed his approval of this initiative. He underscored the importance of supporting human rights through such musical concerts, stating, “The efforts of Ersin Faikzade are a perfect example of how art and humanitarianism can unite to bring about real change in the lives of those in need. IHRC will always support such initiatives that promote peace and human rights across the globe.”

The proceeds from the concert made a significant contribution to the treatment of young Çağla Deniz, offering hope for a brighter future. The event was met with immense appreciation from the people of İzmir, who embraced Ersin Faikzade with love and respect, demonstrating that the spirit of mutual assistance and support remains strong.

Ersin Faikzade has once again proven that music can not only move the soul but also inspire acts of kindness and support for those most in need. His actions stand as a living testament to how individuals can contribute to promoting human rights and building a more just world.
