On September 5, celebrated as Teacher’s Day in India, the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) affirmed its support for education in the country, expressing gratitude to teachers for their pivotal contributions to the development of younger generations. The IHRC, dedicated to the protection and promotion of human rights globally, emphasised the role of teachers as fundamental guardians of values that are the foundation of global justice and peace.
During today’s festivities, the IHRC conducted two unique initiatives highlighting the significance of teachers in the educational system.
In Uttarakhand, under the leadership of Rev. R. Stephana Diyali, the regional volunteer coordinator, a ceremony was organised that highlighted the importance of teachers. Hosted under the auspices of the IHRC, the event underscored that teachers are the backbone of the educational system, and their efforts enable youth to grow and mature into responsible citizens. “Teachers have a profound power to shape the future. It is through their guidance that younger generations evolve into sturdy pillars of society. By supporting teachers, we support the future of all humanity,” said Rev. R. Stephana Diyali.
In Delhi, Teacher’s Day events were orchestrated by Rev. Kailasha Kuriya, IHRC volunteer coordinator, together with Madhu Kuriya, an IHRC volunteer. Participants highlighted the merits of teachers in the educational process and preparing youth for future challenges. “Supporting education is a key aspect of our work. Teachers not only impart knowledge but are also guardians of values that contribute to building societies based on respect for human dignity, equality, and justice,” noted Rev. Kailasha Kuriya during the ceremony in New Delhi.
The International Human Rights Commission continues its mission in India and around the world, demonstrating that education can serve as a bridge connecting diverse communities, contributing to the growth of tolerance, understanding, and peace. Teacher’s Day reminds us that every effort toward education is a step towards a better world where the rights and dignity of every individual are respected and protected.
