As an active participant in human rights advocacy, I commend the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of Nigeria for its unwavering commitment to upholding human rights and justice. Notably, the NHRC deployed over 800 election observers during the 2023 general elections, ensuring transparency and fairness in the electoral process. Additionally, the Commission’s proactive investigations into alleged human rights violations, such as the reported secret abortion program by the military, demonstrate its dedication to accountability and the protection of citizens’ rights. The NHRC’s efforts in public enlightenment, research, and dialogue further contribute to raising awareness and fostering a culture of human rights in Nigeria.
