President Trump’s remarks should inspire Nigeria to act decisively in protecting its citizens and rebuilding international trust

ABUJA, Nigeria — November 2025.
The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC Corporation) has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to treat recent remarks by U.S. President Donald J. Trump on the country’s security crisis as a call for urgent leadership and constructive engagement — not as an attack on the nation’s image.

In a statement endorsed by Prof. h.c. Rafal Marcin Wasik, IHRC Corporation Secretary-General, Peacemaker, the Commission emphasised that Nigeria’s current challenges demand unity, responsible governance, and immediate international coordination to prevent further humanitarian tragedy.

“When human life is endangered, silence is not neutrality — it is neglect,” said Prof. h.c. Rafal Marcin Wasik, IHRC Corporation Secretary-General, Peacemaker. “Nigeria’s leadership must rise above political divisions to protect all citizens equally and to demonstrate to the world that Africa’s largest democracy stands firm for peace, human dignity, and justice.”

President Trump reportedly described the escalating violence and targeted killings in parts of Nigeria as “acts of genocide”, prompting intense global debate. The IHRC stated that while such remarks may appear harsh, they should be interpreted as a wake-up call for decisive action rather than an affront to the nation’s image.

IHRC: Leadership must turn criticism into action

Through its Ambassador-at-Large and Head of Mission in Nigeria, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Hezekiah Duru, the Commission reaffirmed that even criticism, when rooted in humanitarian concern, should serve as a catalyst for reflection and reform.

“Innocent Nigerians — Christians, Muslims, and those of no faith — continue to suffer death, displacement, and trauma as a result of terrorism and armed banditry,” Ambassador Duru stated. “The Government must act decisively to prevent deeper diplomatic mistrust and further national trauma.”

The IHRC underlined that persistent insecurity across the North, Middle Belt, and South East exposes critical gaps in citizen protection. It urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to view President Trump’s remarks as a challenge to rebuild public confidence and restore Nigeria’s global standing.

Diplomatic engagement and institutional reform

The Commission encouraged Nigeria’s newly appointed security chiefs to adopt intelligence-driven, preventive strategies, warning that waiting for attacks before responding only deepens instability.

“You cannot sleep under a burning roof and expect to wake up whole,” the IHRC noted. “The time to act is now — before isolated violence hardens into a national crisis.”

It called for strengthened collaboration with the United States, the European Union, the United Nations, ECOWAS, and the African Union, stressing that coordinated diplomacy is essential to confronting terrorism and displacement.

“Diplomatic silence during global scrutiny may be mistaken for indifference,” the Commission warned. “Transparent dialogue with allies will reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to peace and human rights.”

Proposal for a High-Level Diplomatic Advisory Council

To enhance credibility and trust, IHRC proposed the establishment of a High-Level Diplomatic Advisory Council, composed of senior statesmen, jurists, and international relations experts. Such a council, the Commission stated, would guide Nigeria’s strategic engagement with global partners and demonstrate its seriousness in rebuilding national and international confidence.

Human rights and constitutional guarantees

The Commission reminded that Section 38(1) of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution — alongside the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) — guarantees freedom of thought, conscience, and religion.

“These must remain living principles, not dormant clauses,” the statement read, noting that unchecked terrorism and kidnappings continue to undermine national stability and trust abroad.

Ambassador Duru reaffirmed that Nigeria must lead its own rescue mission through stronger institutions, interfaith dialogue, transparent governance, and a renewed commitment to the sanctity of human life.

“The world is watching,” he said. “Inaction only fuels misinformation and external interference.”

A message from the IHRC Corporation Secretary-General

Prof. h.c. Rafal Marcin Wasik, IHRC Corporation Secretary-General, Peacemaker, reiterated the Commission’s readiness to cooperate with Nigerian authorities and international allies, stressing that IHRC’s mission is one of partnership, not criticism.

“Our role is to strengthen nations in crisis, not to judge them. Nigeria’s strength lies in its unity and moral courage to act when peace and justice are at risk,” he stated.

A call for unity and decisive action

IHRC reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to peacebuilding, humanitarian assistance, and human rights monitoring across Nigeria.

“A tree does not stand alone in the storm,” the statement concluded. “Unity — the lifeblood of our nation — is now under threat. Nigeria’s destiny as Africa’s democratic leader depends on its courage to protect its citizens and restore peace. The time for decisive action is now.”

Press Release

International Human Rights Commission (IHRC), now officially operating under its new name, Transnational Intergovernmental IHRC Corporation, announces that its operational management has officially relocated from Switzerland to New Mexico, United States. This decision, made under the leadership of Prof. h.c. Rafał Marcin Wasik, IHRC Secretary-General, Chairperson IHRC Group, Peacemaker, reflects the organization’s response to shifting geopolitical realities and the need to enhance the effectiveness of its humanitarian and international operations.

The new headquarters in New Mexico is now fully operational, serving as the central hub for advancing key projects at an even higher level. This strategic location enables IHRC to better respond to global humanitarian crises, further intensifying its commitment to regions affected by armed conflicts, natural disasters, and human rights violations.

Prof. h.c. Rafał Marcin Wasik, IHRC Secretary-General, emphasized the significance of this transition:
“New Mexico provides strategic opportunities that strengthen our international initiatives. Relocating our headquarters allows us to work closer to our partners and respond more quickly to the needs of those requiring humanitarian assistance. This marks a new chapter in IHRC’s history, further reinforcing our mission to support and protect human rights worldwide.”

The new headquarters of Transnational Intergovernmental IHRC Corporation also serves as a base for key humanitarian initiatives, such as the distribution of aid in crisis-affected areas, organizing international observation missions, and conducting educational efforts to promote human rights. The IHRC team in New Mexico has already begun working on ongoing projects, intensifying efforts in regions requiring immediate support.

Transnational Intergovernmental IHRC Corporation remains deeply committed to its mission of assisting those in need and fostering global collaboration for peace and justice.

Child organ trafficking is one of the most brutal violations of human rights, affecting the most vulnerable groups worldwide. Despite strict regulations in many countries prohibiting this practice, the global shortage of organs for transplantation and the growing demand for illegal transplants make this issue persistent and in need of urgent attention.

Organ trafficking is a global phenomenon. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), up to 10% of all transplants worldwide may come from illegal sources. Children, as one of the most vulnerable groups, are often the victims of this practice. Migrants, refugees, and children from developing countries such as India, Sudan, and Nepal are primary targets of criminal networks involved in organ trafficking. This problem also affects the United States, where, despite strict regulations, cases of organ trafficking are numerous and demand urgent attention.

Children are abducted by organized criminal groups or coerced into “selling” their organs by impoverished families. Transplant tourism, where patients from developed countries travel to poorer regions to obtain organs from illegal sources, exacerbates the problem. These activities often take place in secrecy, making them difficult to detect and prosecute.

Armed conflicts and poverty in regions such as Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo create fertile ground for this practice. India, Pakistan, and Nepal are countries where child organ trafficking is part of a broader issue of human trafficking. Refugees, especially children from Syria and Afghanistan, are at risk of exploitation during attempts to cross borders. In the United States, this problem is also growing, as evidenced by numerous reports of organized criminal networks operating within the country.

In 2012, Levy Izhak Rosenbaum was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in the United States for arranging illegal kidney transplants. This was one of many cases highlighting the scale of the problem in the country. Globally, such cases are even more common, particularly in developing regions. In Egypt, a criminal network involving doctors and nurses was uncovered in 2016, trafficking children’s organs illegally.

Organ trafficking is prohibited by numerous legal frameworks, including the Council of Europe Convention against Trafficking in Human Organs adopted in 2015. In the United States, the federal National Organ Transplant Act (NOTA) of 1984 strictly prohibits the sale of human organs for profit. Despite this, organized criminal groups find ways to circumvent the law, necessitating intensified enforcement and prevention efforts.

Organ trafficking operates in secrecy, and the involvement of organized criminal groups and the lack of international cooperation make prosecuting this crime challenging. The global shortage of organs for transplantation fuels the illegal market, making its eradication particularly difficult. In the United States, where the number of people needing transplants continues to rise, this issue is especially pressing.

Raising public awareness about the health and legal consequences of organ trafficking is a key element in preventing this practice. Organizations such as Interpol, UNICEF, and UNODC are intensifying efforts to locate missing children and combat organ trafficking. Programs like Amber Alert help respond quickly to child abductions.

It is essential to strengthen legal regulations and increase oversight of medical procedures to eliminate the possibility of using illegal organs.

Child organ trafficking is a global problem requiring decisive actions at both local and international levels. Protecting the most vulnerable groups, strengthening legal frameworks, and educating the public are essential to effectively countering this brutal practice. Through collective efforts, we can make the world a safer place for children and adults alike.

International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation actively fights against this practice. We collaborate with international agencies and organizations to locate missing children, dismantle criminal networks, and raise public awareness about this issue.

In a time marked by global challenges and political complexities, the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election stands out as a moment when Americans cast their votes with a unified vision for global peace. The election reflected a growing desire among the American public to see the U.S. take an active role in promoting international harmony and reducing involvement in conflicts. This new administration’s vision for peace comes at a pivotal moment, as the world faces critical issues that demand diplomatic rather than military solutions.

Throughout the campaign, the incoming President consistently emphasized the importance of reducing hostilities and actively working to de-escalate conflict zones, including one of the most enduring and devastating conflicts: the Gaza situation. For decades, Gaza has been an area of deep-rooted struggle, and its people have endured immeasurable hardships as both sides grapple with issues of land, identity, and sovereignty. This shift indicates a broader desire to reposition the U.S. not as a global enforcer but as a partner in fostering peace and stability.

The American public has seen firsthand the human and financial costs of war, and many believe that continued hostilities only serve to deepen global instability. This election was not just a political decision but an emotional one, as Americans sent a strong message that they want their country to lead with empathy and respect for human rights.

As the new administration begins its term, Americans and people around the world are hopeful that this commitment to peace will have a lasting impact. The pledge to work toward ending the Gaza conflict and to avoid new wars is a powerful step in reshaping U.S. foreign policy for the 21st century. While challenges undoubtedly lie ahead, the direction is clear: Americans have chosen a leader who reflects their aspirations for a world in which diplomacy prevails over warfare, and understanding overcomes division.
