IHRC Secretary-General among the world’s leaders of 28COE

Dubai, 27 March 2022 – Dusit Thani Hotel

A gathering of global leaders in Dubai

In a world where stories shape legacies and connections define success, there are moments that become part of history. One such moment took place in Dubai, where during the prestigious 28COE Award Ceremony, 220 leaders from 20 countries gathered under one roof. The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Obaid Suhail Al Maktoum and brought together representatives of business, diplomacy, and the UAE royal family.

The launch of a unique publication

The highlight of the gala was the launch of the exclusive “28COE Quotes Book – 200 Members, Volume 1.” This three-kilogram hardcover edition presents the profiles of 200 leaders from 70 countries, featuring their wisdom, experiences, and values.

The book represents:

A legacy – a symbol of lasting contribution to global history,

A personal branding tool – strengthening the professional and personal image of leaders,

A networking bridge – connecting entrepreneurs and visionaries across borders,

A collector’s edition – never to be reprinted again.

Prof. Rafał Marcin Wasik – the Peacemaker among visionaries

Among the leaders featured in the book is Prof. h.c. Rafał Marcin Wasik, Secretary-General of the International Human Rights Commission – IHRC, widely known as the Peacemaker. His presence highlights that humanitarian and diplomatic values are equally recognised within the global business leadership community.

“I became part of a global network of leaders united by a common vision, values, and a passion for creating a better world. This is not only a personal distinction but also proof that the mission I pursue through IHRC is being recognised and appreciated worldwide.” – stressed Prof. Wasik.

28COE – a global platform for leadership

The 28COE (28 Credentials of Entrepreneur) initiative supports young entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders across nearly 90 countries. Its mission goes beyond business success, promoting ethical values and the UN Sustainable Development Goals – from education and poverty elimination to innovation and inclusive development.

The Quotes Book has become a bridge between personal branding and global recognition, and currently, only 280 copies remain worldwide. This is the final chance to secure a piece of this legacy – a symbolic part of history that will never be reprinted.

A legacy that transcends borders

Through his presence in the 28COE Quotes Book, the IHRC Secretary-General confirmed his place among global leaders shaping the future through cooperation, values, and a vision of peace.

This story demonstrates that business and humanitarianism can go hand in hand, and that the message of peace, solidarity, and human rights – brought by Prof. Wasik – is recognised and valued within the circle of global entrepreneurs and innovators.

History does not wait. Prof. Rafał Marcin Wasik has already inscribed his name in its pages – as a leader who unites humanitarian diplomacy with entrepreneurship.

A Model Initiative Promoting Community Health, Hygiene and Sustainable Practices in Nigeria

Ifo Market, Ogun State, Nigeria | 9 July 2025

Responding to the Call for Action

In a compelling demonstration of grassroots mobilisation, the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) – Ogun State Chapter has launched a dynamic environmental sensitization campaign at Ifo Market, Ogun Central. This initiative directly responds to the renewed appeal issued by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah, Head of Diplomatic Mission of IHRC in Nigeria, who, during the June Alike Community Empowerment event, called upon all volunteers across Nigeria to intensify efforts within the IHRC Community Service Initiative. Ogun State SMM has fully embraced this mandate, reinforcing IHRC’s commitment to community empowerment and sustainable development.

Mobilising Volunteers for Sustainable Impact

On Wednesday, 9 July 2025, under the leadership of Comrade Kazeem Lukman, IHRC-SMM Ogun State Coordinator, an experienced team of volunteers—including Comrade Janet Onu, Comrade Elizabeth Loto, Dr. Imasuen Mike, Jimoh Kamoru, and Alh. Ganiyu Amao—conducted a comprehensive sanitation and environmental awareness programme at Ifo Market. Their objectives were twofold:

To improve public hygiene through active market sanitation,

And to educate and empower traders by raising awareness of best environmental practices.

“We are not just cleaning spaces; we are enlightening minds. This sensitization was about building healthier, more informed communities—starting right from the grassroots.” emphasised Comrade Lukman.

Knowledge, Policy, and Community Engagement

The campaign placed a strong focus on the environmental policies of the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) and the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA), particularly regarding waste disposal, public hygiene, and sustainable practices. Market leaders and traders engaged enthusiastically in interactive sessions, actively participating in knowledge-sharing activities and welcoming the distribution of educational materials.

IHRC’s efforts were met with great interest:
Many traders expressed astonishment at the breadth of information received, resulting in lively discussions and a surge of questions. Market executives praised the initiative and formally expressed willingness to collaborate with IHRC on future outreach programmes.

Addressing Structural Gaps and Urgent Needs

While the campaign achieved significant progress in raising awareness, it also exposed critical infrastructural deficits—notably, the lack of proper waste disposal systems and limited access to potable water within the market. IHRC therefore urgently recommends:

Immediate governmental intervention to provide clean water sources, waste bins, and essential sanitation logistics in public markets,

Integration of these improvements into local and state-level policy frameworks to ensure long-term, sustainable hygiene.

Building on Momentum: Next Steps for Community Health

This sensitization campaign served as a strategic prelude to the scheduled environmental sanitation exercise in Ogun State on 10 July 2025, functioning as a vital seminar to bridge knowledge and practice gaps among key market stakeholders.

The volunteers extended their heartfelt appreciation to Comrade Elijah Vitus Echendu, National Coordinator of IHRC-SMM Nigeria, whose visionary leadership and continued mentorship provide crucial guidance to local chapters across the nation.

IHRC’s Global Mission Reflected Locally

This initiative is a clear testament to the IHRC’s global vision—delivering tangible, positive change within communities and strengthening the capacity of citizens to live with dignity, health, and peace.
The Ifo Market sensitization campaign will remain a benchmark for effective volunteerism and informed community service in Nigeria.

The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) had the distinct honour of participating in the recent celebration marking the 20th anniversary of the Nadwiślański Border Guard Unit (Nadwiślański Oddział Straży Granicznej). The ceremonial event, held at the Border Guard’s Conference and Training Centre in Otwock, was an opportunity to reflect on two decades of dedicated service, strengthen institutional cooperation, and highlight the importance of safeguarding national borders.

A Significant Milestone for the Polish Border Guard

This anniversary represents an important chapter in the history of the Border Guard, honouring twenty years of unwavering commitment to the security of the Republic of Poland. The Polish Border Guard plays a crucial role in protecting the country’s frontiers, ensuring public safety, and upholding European and international standards.
IHRC recognises the immense responsibility borne by the service, especially amidst growing cross-border challenges and shifting geopolitical dynamics.

IHRC Delegation: A Message of Solidarity and Respect

During the anniversary event, the Commission was represented by:

The event brought together many distinguished guests from Poland and abroad, representing allied services, government institutions, and the private sector.

Recognition, Gratitude, and Ongoing Partnership

On this remarkable occasion, IHRC extends its heartfelt appreciation to all officers and staff of the Polish Border Guard, commending their professionalism, dedication, and steadfast service to the nation. The Commission recognises the sacrifices made by those on the front lines, especially in today’s rapidly changing security environment.

The celebration also enabled meaningful dialogue on vital topics such as the protection of human dignity at borders, fostering intercultural understanding, and the necessity of cross-sector collaboration. IHRC remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote the rule of law, respect for fundamental rights, and the safety of all citizens.
