Abakaliki, Ebonyi State — Residents of the Abakaliki metropolis awoke on Tuesday to an act of humanitarian compassion that quickly resonated across the community. The Head of Diplomatic Mission of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC Corporation) in Nigeria, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah, personally led an unannounced early-morning outreach, delivering food supplies and direct financial assistance to vulnerable residents across inner streets and market corridors.

A widely circulated video from the scene shows the Ambassador walking through narrow lanes, stopping to meet widows, roadside traders, young artisans, elderly individuals, and displaced families. His approach was simple, unceremonial, and profoundly human: direct engagement, listening to personal struggles, and offering immediate relief.

A Humanitarian Gesture That Surprised the City

The outreach, carried out with no publicity, security display, or media preparation, was described by locals as “deeply moving and unexpected.” Many residents observed that such hands-on involvement by a senior diplomatic officer is uncommon in Nigeria’s humanitarian landscape, where interventions are often mediated through large delegations or administrative channels.

Witnesses spoke of emotional moments as people received help without prior registration or screening processes. One beneficiary shared:

“Nobody told us this was happening. He just came, greeted us, and blessed us. This kind of kindness is rare from people in high positions.”

For many in Abakaliki, the Ambassador’s presence was more than a distribution of goods—it became a symbol of empathy, dignity, and leadership that recognises the lived realities of everyday hardship.

A Consistent Pattern of Field-Based Leadership

Over recent months, IHRC Nigeria under Ambassador Duru’s leadership has demonstrated a clear shift toward proactive humanitarian diplomacy, characterised by direct field engagement, rapid-response missions, and the prioritisation of vulnerable populations.

Notable initiatives include:

Child protection interventions in Rivers State,

Monitoring missions in correctional centres across Imo and Delta States,

School compliance and safety audits in Ondo State,

International engagements on Nigeria’s religious freedom concerns,

Community-level mediation and reporting on human rights violations across multiple regions.

These efforts reflect a paradigm within IHRC Nigeria that emphasises visible presence, accountability, and leadership by example. Tuesday’s outreach in Ebonyi State strengthens this trajectory.

Humanitarian Leadership Rooted in Proximity and Empathy

In an era where communities often experience institutional distance, the Abakaliki outreach stands as a reminder that effective human rights work requires more than policy declarations. It demands proximity—entering the streets, listening to the voices of the marginalised, and demonstrating compassion through concrete action.

Ambassador Duru’s approach aligns with IHRC’s organisational ethos that humanitarianism must be accessible, people-centered, and unbureaucratic. By stepping into the community personally, he reaffirmed the principle that dignity and hope can be restored through leadership that chooses presence over protocol.

A Moment That Will Not Be Forgotten

Residents who witnessed the outreach described it as “life-changing,” not only because food and financial support were provided, but because the intervention restored a sense of visibility to individuals who often feel forgotten. For many, the Ambassador’s gesture served as a reminder that humanitarian action—when guided by sincerity—has the power to uplift, inspire, and transform.

The International Human Rights Commission continues to stand with vulnerable communities in Nigeria, reinforcing a commitment to service that is both principled and deeply human.

Over 42,000 Affected as Humanitarian Crisis Deepens in Nigeria’s North-East

Adamawa State, Nigeria – 5 August 2025

Disaster Assessment Reveals Scale of Tragedy

The International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Corporation Nigeria has released a comprehensive disaster report following severe flooding across six Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Adamawa State: Yola South, Yola North, Numan, Demsa, Girei, and Lamurde. The crisis has left 6,732 households affected, 42,118 individuals impacted, 27 confirmed fatalities, 74 injured, and over 15,000 displaced, now seeking refuge in IDP camps and host communities.

The findings, based on a Rapid Needs and Risk Assessment conducted on 30 July 2025 by the IHRC Special Monitoring Mission, in collaboration with Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), DAWOS Foundation, AB Haske Foundation, and local authorities, document widespread destruction of homes, farmland, sanitation, and increasing risks of gender-based violence, disease outbreaks, and food insecurity.

IHRC Humanitarian Response and Partnerships

IHRC deployed emergency teams to deliver urgent relief, including:

Distribution of Non-Food Items (NFIs) to over 850 households: blankets, dignity kits, mosquito nets, utensils,

Essential medications for malaria, typhoid, and infections, in partnership with local health agencies,

Psychosocial and protection support – including group therapy for women, children, and the elderly.

“The spirit of cooperation and urgency shown by Adamawa State officials is deeply commendable. Their partnership with IHRC ensured that thousands of affected citizens received not just attention but real assistance. This is a model worthy of national replication.”
— Comrade Elijah Vitus Echendu, National Coordinator, IHRC Special Monitoring Mission Nigeria

Leadership Commendations and Strategic Appeal

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah, Head of IHRC Diplomatic Mission in Nigeria, described the flood disaster as a part of a growing national emergency. He urged strategic, rights-based, and united responses:

“What we see in Adamawa is not isolated. Floods are recurring and threatening multiple states across Nigeria. This demands a coordinated, strategic, and rights-based national response.”

Ambassador Duru also:

Commended the IHRC North-East team for their exemplary work,

Called for deeper institutional cooperation between government and humanitarian actors,

Urged joint flood mitigation and early warning systems, and investment in recovery and preparedness.

“Let this be a turning point—where the government and IHRC work shoulder-to-shoulder to prevent avoidable suffering and build a Nigeria where disaster response is swift, coordinated, and dignified.”

Key Humanitarian and Recovery Priorities Identified

IHRC highlights the following urgent needs:

Food assistance for displaced families,

Restoration of clean water and sanitation infrastructure,

Provision of safe, durable shelters,

Sustained psychosocial support,

Livelihood restoration and income generation.

Additional recommendations:

Improved access and logistics for aid agencies in hard-to-reach regions,

Long-term investment in flood mitigation, climate awareness, and disaster preparedness.

A Call for Systemic Reform and Shared Accountability

The 2025 Adamawa flood disaster is a stark reminder of the fragility of communities amid climate change. Through coordinated assessments and field interventions, IHRC is committed to advocacy and direct support for affected populations.

IHRC now calls on federal and state governments, international donors, and civil society to seize this moment for systemic humanitarian reform, resilience building, and shared accountability.

IHRC Corporation: Setting New Benchmarks in International Effectiveness

IHRC Corporation, founded in 2023 in New Mexico by Prof. h.c. Rafał Marcin Wasik and Maj. Gen. Romanos Raad, is an independent, transnational intergovernmental organization (IGO) operating strictly under international law: the United Nations Charter, the Geneva Convention, the Vienna Convention, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The organization holds IRS 501(c)(3) status as a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation in the USA.

IHRC serves as a neutral arbitrator and mediator in some of the world’s most volatile conflict zones. Its flagship initiative, the Peacemaker Force, is a rapid-response formation currently deployed in the Gaza Strip. Here, IHRC, as the only organization with full accreditation in Israel, provides direct humanitarian assistance to civilians—delivering food, water, medicines, and logistical support to millions in need.

A Global Network of Diplomacy and Humanitarian Aid

IHRC runs official diplomatic missions and humanitarian projects in:

Lebanon

Nigeria

Niger

Georgia

USA
It actively supports democratization, monitors elections, and implements legislative solutions.

Diplomatic Corps and Organizational Innovation

IHRC boasts a comprehensive diplomatic corps—ambassadors, commissioners, advisers, and chaplains—each equipped with official Corps Diplomatique documents and Travel Orders, all centrally issued and subject to audit, guaranteeing diplomatic immunity.

IHRC is also a pioneer in humanitarian project financing: the organization is implementing the HT-IHRC token (ERC-20, pegged to USDT) as a transparent tool for global humanitarian operations, fully compliant with FATF, SEC, MiCA, and EFCC regulations.

Pioneering Programs and the Contribution of Prof. Rafał Wasik

IHRC is spearheading groundbreaking programs:

FUTURE AFRICA – Humanitarian economic zones based on the agri-sector in Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and the DRC, designed to create jobs, ensure food security, and curb illegal migration. European consumers purchasing these labelled products are directly supporting efforts to reduce migration to the EU.

HUB SPRC (Terra Nilus, between Serbia and Croatia) – A neutral centre for reintegration, protection, and relocation of victims of human trafficking and illegal migration, fully compliant with the Geneva Convention and UN standards.

By combining neutrality, innovation, and operational effectiveness, IHRC Corporation remains a global leader in humanitarian diplomacy, offering real solutions for a world in crisis.

Organization Motto:

In 2014, he publicly warned of the impending war in Ukraine and in 2019 initiated the draft law for dual citizenship for Ukrainians—eventually adopted by the President of Ukraine.

A Call for Long-term Solutions to Climate-Induced Disasters in Nigeria

Abuja, Nigeria – 28 May 2025

Condolences in the Wake of Unprecedented Tragedy

The International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation in Nigeria expresses its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Niger State—especially the residents of Mokwa Local Government Area—following the devastating flood disaster that has claimed lives, displaced families, and destroyed property. The Mokwa flood has been described as one of the deadliest in recent Nigerian history.

Human and Structural Losses: The Scale of the Disaster

Triggered by torrential rains and the collapse of a nearby dam, the flood resulted in at least 151 confirmed deaths and left over 3,000 people displaced.
Critical infrastructure—including roads and bridges—was also destroyed, significantly hampering rescue and recovery operations.

Solidarity and a Call for Action

In an official statement, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah, Head of Diplomatic Mission, IHRC Nigeria, reflected on the catastrophe:

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and the untold hardship inflicted upon the affected communities. IHRC Nigeria stands in solidarity with the victims and offers our thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.”

Addressing Root Causes and Building Resilience

Dr. Duru highlighted multiple factors contributing to the disaster, including:

Climate change-induced extreme weather events

Inadequate infrastructure

Insufficient early warning systems

He urged the Nigerian government to invest in climate resilience, enhance flood management systems, and implement long-term strategies to safeguard vulnerable communities.

Commendation for Rescue and Relief Efforts

IHRC Nigeria commends the unwavering dedication of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), first responders, and community volunteers who have worked tirelessly to deliver relief and rescue services.

The swift response of the federal government, through activation of the National Emergency Response Centre and deployment of relief materials and shelters by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), is also highly appreciated.

Recommendations for Sustainable Solutions

IHRC Nigeria calls for collaborative action among state and federal authorities, government agencies, civil society organisations, and international partners to:

Address the root causes of such disasters

Provide urgent humanitarian assistance, including food, shelter, medical care, and clean water

Ensure timely support reaches all victims

This tragic event is a stark reminder of the urgent need for long-term, preventive action.
IHRC Nigeria urges the Federal Ministry of Environment, NEMA, and state governments to prioritise sustainable flood management strategies, such as:

Improved drainage systems

Early warning mechanisms

Climate adaptation programmes

Stricter regulation of activities compromising waterways

Appeal for Community Education and Disaster Preparedness

IHRC further calls for greater investment in environmental education and community-level disaster preparedness to reduce future risks and enhance resilience.

Commitment to Human Rights and Dignity

IHRC Nigeria remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting initiatives that protect the rights and dignity of all Nigerians, particularly in times of crisis.

Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, India — 5 June 2025

In a heartwarming act of solidarity and compassion, the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) – Uttarakhand State Chapter carried out a blanket distribution initiative for vulnerable communities in the mountainous region of Tehri Garhwal, where temperatures have recently dropped to critically low levels.

This humanitarian activity, executed under the official banner of the IHRC, was spearheaded by Volunteer Moti and supported by local team members. The aim was clear: to provide immediate relief to those in need during the unforgiving winter season in the hills of Northern India.

“It was a moment of profound gratitude and personal honour for me to contribute to this noble mission,”
— H.E. Bishop Dr. Samsher Khan, IHRC Peace Ambassador and High Commissioner MNVC SMM IHRC

Throughout the event, several individuals registered under the official IHRC identification system, marking not only their participation but also their endorsement of the organisation’s core mission — to protect human dignity and deliver aid where it is most needed.

The presence and blessing of H.E. Bishop Dr. Samsher Khan greatly inspired the community. His unwavering commitment to human rights law, peacebuilding, and faith-based outreach remains a cornerstone of the IHRC’s work in the region.

The IHRC delegation also expressed sincere appreciation to:

Prof. h.c. Rafał Marcin Wasik, Secretary-General and Peacemaker of the International Human Rights Commission, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support of humanitarian actions worldwide;

H.E. Dawid Szabłowski, Head of the IHRC Press Department, for ensuring international visibility of IHRC’s global outreach through responsible and high-quality journalism.

“We thank you all in the name of Jesus Christ for this beautiful and impactful day. The kindness shown to our brothers and sisters in need is a living testament to the values that the IHRC upholds,”
— H.E. Bishop Dr. Samsher Khan

This initiative stands as another shining example of IHRC’s global commitment to:

support the underprivileged,

promote human rights awareness, and

build bridges of peace and dignity across cultures and regions.

In a distinguished demonstration of international solidarity, Prof. h.c. Rafał Marcin Wasik, Secretary-General and Peacemaker of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC), delivered high praise to the IHRC Nigeria Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) during a multilateral online summit. The meeting convened key stakeholders from Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, focusing on the expanding humanitarian mission of IHRC and its unwavering support for crisis-stricken populations.

Recognition of IHRC Nigeria’s Impactful Leadership

In his keynote address, Prof. Wasik commended the IHRC Nigeria team, led by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah, for their steadfast commitment to advancing human rights, promoting peace, and delivering essential support to vulnerable communities. He emphasised that Nigeria remains a cornerstone of IHRC’s international strategy, particularly in mobilising youth and volunteers for social impact.

“The Nigeria SMM exemplifies our values of action, resilience, and compassion. Your effective outreach and commitment to serving those most in need set a benchmark for IHRC missions worldwide,” stated Prof. Wasik.

IHRC’s Humanitarian Response: Food Aid to Gaza

A central focus of the session was the IHRC’s ongoing food aid operation in the Gaza Strip. In light of the ongoing humanitarian emergency exacerbated by blockade and conflict, IHRC has intensified its efforts to deliver food supplies directly to civilians facing acute shortages.

Prof. Wasik, speaking with deep concern for the affected population, underlined the scale and urgency of IHRC’s intervention:

“Despite extremely challenging security conditions, our teams on the ground in Gaza remain committed to the uninterrupted delivery of vital food aid. We stand resolutely with the people of Gaza, ensuring that families and children receive the nourishment they desperately need.”

IHRC’s assistance is carried out in partnership with reputable international NGOs, local community organisations, and volunteers to guarantee that food reaches those most in need in a transparent and effective manner. The Commission’s neutral and humanitarian approach continues to earn the trust of beneficiaries and international observers alike.

Nigeria’s Strategic Contribution and Future Engagement

The meeting also spotlighted the achievements of IHRC Nigeria, including rural health initiatives, human rights volunteer training, and efforts to strengthen community resilience through dialogue and social action. Looking forward, the participants discussed expanding the Nigeria SMM’s role in early warning, supporting displaced persons, and further collaboration with global IHRC programmes.

Call for Global Solidarity

The summit concluded with a powerful call for renewed global cooperation in the face of growing humanitarian challenges. All participants reiterated IHRC’s foundational mission:

“We are for the people, by the people, and with the people — in every crisis, every nation, every heart in need.”

Tel Aviv / Gaza – 26.5.2025

The International Human Rights Commission IHRC Corporation has launched its urgent humanitarian operation in Gaza, with the first convoy of food aid successfully crossing into the region. This milestone marks the beginning of a dedicated response to one of the most severe humanitarian crises in recent memory.

Millions of civilians in Gaza are facing acute food insecurity, displacement, and ongoing hardship. IHRC’s intervention is guided by the conviction that access to food is a fundamental human right, and that human dignity must be defended—without political bias or influence.

“Today, we are not just delivering food—we are delivering dignity. Our presence in Gaza is about compassion and our responsibility to humanity.”

— Prof. h.c. Rafał Marcin Wasik, IHRC Secretary-General, Peacemaker

Our team is working day and night to deliver aid that includes basic food supplies, distributed directly to the most vulnerable—families, children, and the elderly—who are suffering the most. The IHRC operates with complete neutrality, independence, and transparency, and is not affiliated with any government or political body. We rely on our own global network of volunteers, diplomats, and supporters to fulfill our mission.

Why Gaza Needs Us Now

Thousands of children suffer from malnutrition and trauma

This mission is part of IHRC’s wider commitment to serve where suffering exists, uphold human dignity, and provide direct aid regardless of race, nationality, or belief.
