<p>The Special Monitoring Mission International Human Rights Commission (SMM IHRC) has been invited by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Ughelli North Local Governtment Chapter to the special event marking March 8th International Women&#8217;s Day at the Local Governtment Secretariat Ughelli Delta State.</p>



<p>A statement signed by the NULGE Chairperson in Ughelli North Local Government Chapter, Chief Mrs. Betty Onakpoma said on behalf of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Ughelli North Chapter of Delta State, I would like to express our intention to invite you to the 2023 International Women&#8217;s Day (IWD) celebration in honor of your organization&#8217;s demonstrated exceptional commitment to women empowerment and gender equality.</p>



<p>She emphasized that the global theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality&#8221;, that the NULGE Chapter shall focus on “Women&#8217;s Participation for Innovation and Technology.</p>



<p>Adding that the theme is aligned with the priority theme for the upcoming 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW-67), “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.</p>

<p>To this note, Mr. Fidelis Onakpoma Regional Coordinator of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) International Human Rights Commission in the Southern Region shall lead the team of IHRC to this epoch event with special approval from the National Volunteers Coordinator, Mr. Elijah Vitus Echendu, under the due supervision of the Ambassador at Large and Head of Diplomatic Mission IHRC Nigeria, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah.</p>

<p>According to the International Human Rights Commission correspondent, a renowned Nigerian Monarch, HRM Evang. (Dr.) Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi III, the King of the great Ughelli Kingdom Delta State was graciously honored with the 2023 Custodian of Godly Inheritance Award on Tuesday 23rd February by a non-governmental organization, Jodah Praise Foundation (JPF).</p>



<p>The Director JPF, Evang. Joseph Edah said the award was in recognition of his outstanding leadership in advancing interfaith collaboration, humanitarian service, and peace.</p>



<p>He maintained that HRM Ojakovo Oharisi III plays a crucial role in changing things for young people, awakening innovation, invention, and productivity of young people. As well as creating improved moral and ethical values for young people.</p>



<p>The Jodah Praise Foundation (JPF) first conceived on May 29th, 2018 is a non-governmental organization established under Nigerian law with the overarching goal to raise young singers and players of instruments as a way of developing young people&#8217;s interpersonal skills and moral and ethical values against anti-social behaviors.</p>



<p>The Foundation is formed to address challenging factors confronting inspiring and musically talented young people by providing mentorship, development, and empowerment harnessing the strength and providing platforms for the exhibition of talents.</p>



<p>While expressing satisfaction with the activities of JPF, HRM Ojakovo Oharisi III thanked the leadership of the Foundation for bestowing him the prestigious award, urging them to remain committed to their vision as he will continue to share partnerships with the Foundation.</p>



<p>Meanwhile, HRM Ojakovo Oharisi III supported the Foundation by paying off the one-year rent of their apartment.</p>

<p>Education: The National Coordinator Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) Nigeria, Comrade Elijah Vitus Echendu reiterates their commitment to supporting education as a fundamental human right.</p>



<p>Elijah in correspondence with the IHRC Media unit said he has credibly secured a partnership with IHRC Diplomatic Mission Nigeria, to commence the free distribution of the Organization notebooks to selected schools in Nigeria, stressing that the exercise shall kick off on Thursday 19th January 2023 at GSS-Government Secondary School, Airport Road Jabi Abuja.</p>



<p>He maintained that the initiative is an appraisal effort of the IHRC Ambassador at Large and Head of Diplomatic Mission Nigeria, Ambassador Dr. Duru Hezekiah; towards upholding the universal declaration of the right to education.</p>



<p>He said subsequently, other States of the federation would be visited for the same purpose and Nigerian schools will continue to benefit from the International Human Rights Commission Projects.</p>
